How to find your strengths and weaknesses

You should assess how you make use of your strengths and reduce the risk of failure in your phase of preparation for a new season on the bike. You do this best by making a list of your strengths and weaknesses.

When you make the list you should be honest with yourself. The list should serve as a tool to recognize what you are good at and what things you are not so good at. Many people do this subconsciously and work sporadically to strengthen weaknesses or engage in strengths.

It is important to become aware of ones strengths and weaknesses and work out a specific work plan in order to change the areas you would like to alter. Strengths and weaknesses can both be areas on the bike, and also situations away from cycling, which you either are good or not quite as good at. This could e.g. be your ability to run on schedule, to set yourself goals in life, to maintain focus during a longer project or maybe just remembering to stretch out following training.

After the list has been worked out, every point concerning your strengths and weaknesses should be assessed as to how important each point is for you.

All points should be assessed as

  1. Important
  2. Not important

There is no middle course.

Remember you are reading this text, because you are prepared to improve your results and to create a structured training- / season course for yourself. The important thing is to prioritize, because no one in this world can improve all their weak points or get away with only focusing on their strong points. You have to prioritize in your life, and find out how important the individual points concerning your strengths and weaknesses are for you. Of course the list should also contain points that refer to cycling.
